Suite life

Good morning! Reporting live from my queen size bed back in Brussels. I came back home last night at around five o'clock in the morning. The sun was almost rising by the time I was ready to get some of that much needed sleep. Right now, there's a huge suitcase and bags waiting to be unpacked, but knowing myself I will probably leave them there for a bit longer, just enough for me to settle down again. It almost feels surreal that just yesterday I was still enjoying the sun in that little part of paradise that is Turkey. Suddenly waking up in cloudy Belgium makes it feel as though it was all just a dream. A beautiful one, to say the least. I have a lot of pictures ready so bare with me while I 'unpack' them little by little and share moments from my getaway with you, starting with these shots taken in the hotel room we stayed in. The natural light shining through the soft white curtains was almost fairly, so pure and enchanting... made me want to dress in white the whole time (I didn't, though). Alright, it is now time for me to make some tea and maybe some toast with avocado. Perfect way to kick off this last day of holiday!

POSTCARDS FROM VENICE- PART II

More photos from day two of my recent trip to the beautiful city of Venice. We spent most of the day on boats, traveling from one part of town to the other in order to take in as much of the Venetian flair as possible. The mood was very laid-back, we made a couple of stops at cafes to simply enjoy the moment. I took time to write a postcard to one of my friends, I wonder if it has reached her by now.

At night, we got lost in the streets of the old town, which we did not do on purpose, but apparently it is something that everyone should do when in Venice. The thing about that city is that it resembles a giant maze. The buildings are tall, the streets are narrow and all of them are connected by more tiny passages. The more you wander into the depths of the city and further away from the Piazza San Marco, the more you actually get to discover the true essence of the authentic Venice.

POSTCARDS FROM VENICE- PART I

I've been in Italy a couple of times before, but this time I got to rediscover it completely. Putting aside everything I ever knew about Italy- the rushing in the streets, the outspokenness, the abundance of vivid colors and the overall upbeat rhythm of the country- I completely changed my perspective on the place in this one week-end. Venice always seemed like a magical place to me, but the image I had of it in my head before actually visiting it (a.k.a. the way it's portrayed in 'The Tourist' with Angelina Jolie in beautiful attire) was slightly distant from the real thing... And I was blown away. Everything about Venice seems ethereal- the haunting palaces floating on the water, their reflections, the little alleyways and bridges, the whiteness of the buildings. What is more, I got to visit the city during the carnival season so the streets were overflowing with people dressed in Victorian gowns and masks. It felt like a masquerade. The masks added to the feel of mystery and anonymity. When in Venice, you can put on a mask and be whoever you want to be for as long as you're staying there...

Destination: Venice

I came home this afternoon and immediately started packing. I'm leaving to the airport in about half an hour, so I needed to make sure I have all my essentials with me. Besides my passport (in its pleather-snakeskin case), which is an obvious necessity, I always bring my bling-bling with me- I can't leave the house without them. I also received a package from Wildfox today, and within the package were some awesome sunglasses. I'll be sporting these on the blog some time soon!

Also, the blog got a make-over, it's so much easier to navigate. What do you think? I personally love this new template and can't wait to fill it with new, fresh content. Trying to post regularly is my new goal. I'm leaving you with this for now, I'll be back on Monday with photos and memories to share from the beautiful Venice. Until then- take care!

PARIS'14

Zara suit+loafers, River Island hat
Last week-end, I visited Paris for the second time in the past couple of months; the first time being about a month ago when I went on an art class trip with a bunch of great people. This time, it is my mom and I who decided to go on a little one-day journey to Paris. I had been in the city a few times before, but somehow had never been on the Alexandre III Bridge, and it became a little dream of mine to take pictures there. And I finally got the chance to do so.
Paris in autumn is beautiful, it feels fresh. I guess the whiteness and the purity of the architecture contrasting with the orange tones of falling eaves, both create a romantic atmosphere. I wore my full red ensemble: it made me feel like a typical Parisian girl from movies, which also intensified my dreams of living in that city at some point in my life, at least for a short while.
